Year 1: In year one you will sit two 2.5-hour exams, paper A will cover Health content and paper B Science content.
Year 2: In year two you are required to complete 315 hours of work placement; this will be arranged through our employer engagement lead and the Leeds Health Academy. Currently students complete these hours in a variety of settings including Leeds General Infirmary, St James Hospital, Residential homes and Community settings.
In year 2 you will be assessed on your knowledge of both healthcare and adult nursing; this will be via various assessment methods outlined below:
Controlled assessment- 30% of your grade
Practical assessments- 40% of your grade
A Professional Discussion- 30% of your grade.
As part of your year 2 assessment you will also have to complete an Employer set project, you will start working on this during year one of your course.

What are T Levels?
Notre Dame has been selected as one of the first providers of the new T Level qualifications starting from September 2020. T Levels will follow GCSEs and will be equivalent to 3 A Levels. These 2-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of the industry and prepares students for work.
What do I need to study a T-Level?
You will need five GCSEs at grade 5 or above including GCSE English Language and GCSE Maths. You will also need a 55 in GCSE Science. You should have a strong interest in working in this sector and be prepared to discuss this further at an interview. You will also be required to complete a DBS check.
What will I study?
You will learn core contemporary knowledge required to be successful in the health sector. This includes the structure of the health and science sector, working in the health and science sector, providing person centred care, safeguarding and promoting health and wellbeing. You will also study scientific and clinical practices covering elements of physics, chemistry and biology, as well as the occupational specialism Supporting the Adult Nursing Team. As part of this qualification, you will gain practical care skills. Within the course you will complete at least 45 days / 315 hours of work experience in the health sector.
What next?
On completion of this T Level, you will be able to choose between moving into a health-related skilled occupation, an apprenticeship, or degree. 100% of our T Level Health students have progressed to university, degree apprenticeships or employment in health related fields including; midwifery, adult nursing, children’s nursing, paramedic and mental health nursing.
