Congratulations to Notre Dame’s A-level Biology students, 91 of whom took part in this year’s Intermediate Biology Olympiad, with 42 receiving an award or commendation.
The Intermediate Biology Olympiad is open to all lower sixth students anywhere in the world. All entrants complete a one-hour multiple choice paper online. Its questions cover topics students will have covered at GCSE and in their first year of A level, with additional ideas being introduced that require problem solving skills and a good understanding of core principals. 12,566 students from 608 schools took part worldwide.
One of our students achieved a gold award, two a silver, and ten bronze. Nine were highly commended and 20 commended. We are very proud of them for demonstrating their love of learning and determination.
Head of Biology Sue Lowe said, “We are so proud of all our students for pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and rising to this challenge.”
