On March 21, Notre Dame’s lower sixth students attended our Higher Education and Next Steps Day, organised by the college Careers Department.
As well as introducing students to the UCAS application process, the event gave them the opportunity to chat with 44 different universities, apprenticeship providers, and gap year organisations at our onsite HE Fair. Every student attended presentations about student finance and how to choose a degree subject to study, but they could also sign up for any two of a variety of subject-specific workshops. These included a student life talk from an ex-Notre Dame student, a presentation from Leeds Apprenticeship Hub, and talks on degree subjects including Art, Engineering, Journalism, and Primary education.
Over the coming weeks, our lower sixth students will continue to research their post-18 options during tutorials. To ensure that parents and carers can support their children in planning for their next steps after Notre Dame, we have invited them all to a Lower Sixth Parents Progression Evening on April 20.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Careers Department, especially Liz Crick, for the months of planning that went into this event, as well as the teaching and support staff who supported the activities on the day.
