We are pleased to announce that in September 2023 Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College was awarded the School of Character Quality Mark Award, the first sixth form college in the UK to achieve this. This wouldn't have been possible without the enormous contributions from all colleagues; so massive congratulations to all. The award recognises Notre Dame's high quality teaching, mutually respectful relationships, and value-driven personal development programme.
The Association for Character Education (ACE) viewed particular strengths in the Stella Maris programme, reporting it to be 'a central vehicle to the development of character within the college' that 'positively reinforces the college's virtues on a regular basis'. Catherine Herring, with special recognition in the report reflects on the College's award - "It was so gratifying to have out commitment to character education, especially though the Stella Maris Leadership Award, recognised by ACE".
Students should also be proud, with the award recognising their 'considered and respectful manner, reflective of the value-driven culture'. The student executive team was also commended, particularly in relation to the created leadership opportunities. The dedication and gratitude shown by these students was of particular note in the report.
Principal Justine Barlow expresses her pride for the award - "We are immensely proud to be awarded the Quality Mark for character education endorsing out commitment to developing virtues and values in our students and staff".
Well done Notre Dame!
