Culture Week is a Notre Dame legacy, something that has been built upon year after year. Following last year's success, it remained a full week-long event, celebrating the diversity and student inclusion of Notre Dame in which we could celebrate the gifts and talents of our students.
The week began with stalls and vendors in the upper study area selling local dishes, henna, face paints, jewellery and cakes.
On Wednesday was the Culture Catwalk, where students were able to show off their traditional cultural dress.
Thursday was the highly anticipated Culture Performances, where we saw impressive dancing, beautiful singing, and spectacular Philippine Tinikling.
The Student Executive, who organised the event, raised an impressive £961 for St George's Crypt, Motor Neurone Disease Association, and Leeds Children's Hospital. Haleema Ghani, Student Executive President said 'This November we launched the biggest Student Exec event of the year. A week of diversity, celebration and family. Culture Week is a legacy here at college and it was an absolute honour to take lead on such an important part of the student experience at Notre Dame. The feedback we received was 100% positive and students expressed their gratitude and pride in being able to celebrate their own cultures whilst also immersing themselves in the heritage of their peers'.
Thank you to all those organised or were involved in the event. We already can't wait for next year.
