End of Year Student Led Prayer and Liturgy

Worship Night

On Friday 21st June the Alpha group led by Tian Liu our outgoing student president, did one last worship night for the L6 students of this year. The upper study area provided the venue for the worship which was entitled ‘Unshakeable Faith’ and consisted of a mixture of prayer, singing and Christian witness. John Coombes who has run the Alpha group along with Lauren Carry and Jess Berry who support the student executive said it was a very beautiful and powerful occasion. Our lay chaplain, Agnes Colantuoni, is looking forward to supporting this group in the next academic year.

L6 End of Term Liturgy

Our last liturgy of the year took place in the chapel on July 2nd entirely organised and led by the students. Mia Lomotos, one of our two faith officers along with other members of the Lourdes group, put together a beautiful end of term liturgy. They chose the theme, the scripture, and the hymns. They also wrote the prayers of intercession as well as organising student musicians and our chamber choir to accompany the singing. In addition they sourced all the readers entirely themselves. The theme 'Christ be our Light' was to both celebrate their time at Notre Dame, giving thanks for the year but looking forward to the future hoping for light and guidance in all they do.

The liturgy ended with words from Justine Barlow our Principal reminding the students of our three key virtues, faith, hope and love. To have faith that everyone has a purpose, to never give up hope and to have love, for themselves and for others.

Agnes Colantuoni, said a prayer for all the students who are going to Lourdes or on one of the many trips this week.

Catherine Herring, Director of Catholic Life said: ‘The way the students did everything for this liturgy themselves was incredibly impressive’.
