Monday 11th December saw the inaugural twinning meeting via TEAMS between students and staff from Notre Dame Enugu, Nigeria and Notre Dame Leeds.
Henry, Michael, Vivian, Lydia, Nina, Praise, Stephanie, Rita and teacher Sister Scholastica from Notre Dame Academy, Enugu and Catherine Herring, Director of Catholic Life, Queen Tojoba and Blessing Amponsah, members of our student executive met at 4pm GMT.
Catherine Herring said; 'Despite some technical difficulties in that we could not hear each other, we could use the chat function and still be able to talk about different topics. Our students from Leeds explained about the recent snow and rain, while the students in Nigeria told us that they were in the Harmattan season, which is a time when it is dry, dusty and windy. The students from Nigeria also very keen to hear about our culture week and all the activities that took place while our students wanted to know more about their aspirations after they finish school.'
Both sets of students are very keen to arrange another call in the New Year and will exchange some photos of life in Nigeria and Leeds.
Sr Scholastica said like 'We were so happy seeing you even though you couldn't hear us''. Some Notre Dame students from L6, as part of their Advent preparation are sending Christmas cards to the students in Enugu to give the students an idea of what life is like here.'
