2025 will see Catholics around the world celebrate a Holy Year of Jubilee.
In the time of the Old Testament a year of Jubilee was held every 50th year. It was a time of rest, when land should lie fallow, slaves be set free and debts erased.
We now celebrate a Jubilee every 25 years. Pope Francis has called this Jubilee Year ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ and he encourages us to renew our hope, to show forgiveness and mercy and to offer hope to others.
At Notre Dame there will be many opportunities for students, staff and governors to be involved in activities of hope, from prayer to pilgrimage, friendship to social action and stewardship of the earth. Our College community will journey together with hope it our hearts.
On Thursday 6th February, the Jubilee banner made its way to Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College on its journey throughout the Diocese. We stuck our logo on it, representing our College community before it travelled on its pilgrimage to Leeds Trinity University.
