On Friday May 26, the Notre Dame community celebrated 2023’s fabulous upper sixth students and bid them a teary farewell.
After a final mass in the college chapel, our students gathered in their fancy dress to admire each other’s outfits while they waited to go into the main hall for their leavers' assembly.
Several T-Rex’s attended the event, as well as Sherlock Holmes, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a whole troupe of Mario’s, the entire Marvel cast, and a swathe of I’m a Celebrity campmates.
The assembly began with a short speech from Principal Justine Barlow, who wished our students all the best for the future. Before the presentation of awards, our Student Executive team were thanked for all their hard work promoting the views of the student body and arranging all sorts of events. They raised almost £1000 for charities including Young Minds and Save the Children.
As each award was announced, the winners went up on stage to receive their trophies and the applause of their peers and staff in the audience. A full list of the academic, community, and students’ choice award winners is given below.
When the assembly came to an end, our students left the hall and were given their last ever potato waffles by canteen staff. They congregated in the sunshine on St Joseph’s Court, saying their final goodbyes to friends and teachers, and taking plenty of photos. A small selection of these can be seen below, but all pictures taken by the college Marketing Team will be shared with our upper sixth leavers via their college email address.
