Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College was delighted to host Dave Woods, a legendary sports commentor, who worked for BBC Sport for 33 years, before moving to Sky Sports last summer. His now focuses solely on rugby league, but he has also spent a lot of his career covering football. He has commentated on everything from the Super League Grand Final, The Rugby League World Cup Final to the UEFA Europa League and played a leading role on the BBC’s Super League Show.
Dave spoke to the students about his career, including interesting anecdotes, and about what it takes to be a sports journalist. He also discussed how he got into the industry and the best things to do to start your career.
A huge thank you to him for giving-up his time to come and speak to us.
