On Friday the HisPol Society enrichment had a visit from Annie Maloney, a local councillor. Annie used to be a student here at Notre Dame, studying A-levels History, Politics and English Literature. After joining the Labour party at 14, she has earnt her place within Leeds City Council, and has been elected for the second time as local councillor for the Beeston and Holbeck ward. Annie shared her journey to her current role, including what her day-to-day looks like, and some highlights of her career. Students were keen to listen to everything Annie had to share, with some potentially budding future councillors in the room.
Annie said 'It was a pleasure to be back at Notre Dame, it feels like two minutes ago I was sat in that classroom. I was so impressed with how engaged and knowledgeable the students were and really enjoyed chatting with them!'
