By Coach Ricky Fetske.
Last Wednesday, Team ND faced off against a John Leggott College Wolves team in an AOC Men’s Basketball League 1 match in front of a boisterous home crowd.
From the jump ball, Notre Dame were aggressive on defence with active hands in the passing lanes. This effort resulted in deflections, leading to many transition points and trips to the foul line early on. Ten minutes into the game ND held a 27-11 lead, with nine players getting onto the score sheet. This comfortable lead was short lived, as the Wolves made a ferocious comeback to cut the lead to 8 in the second half. After a 16-point offensive explosion in the same quarter, Frederick Amponsah took control of the game and helped Team ND prevail with a hard-fought 18-point win, 81-63.
Teamwork was the key to the game with contributions from everyone and tremendous spirit displayed by Team ND. Frederick had a game-high 30 points and went on to say: “We managed to overcome a strong offensive team in John Leggott College Wolves after a strong defensive performance by all of us. I feel honoured to be selected as Man of the Match. I thank my coach and my teammates for the support. I will keep working to become better.”
Our next home game is 30th of March versus Ashville College. Hope to see you there and thank you for your continued support.
