The History and Politics department had an action packed week last week.
Lord Phillip Norton
We welcomed a very special visitor to college on Thursday lunchtime in the Lecture Theatre - a real live member of the House of Lords, the one and only Lord Philip Norton of Louth! He discussed the preconceptions of the House of Lords against its reality, as well as taking informed and challenging questions from our Politics students.
Alex Sobel
We had the honour of hosting Notre Dame's very own MP - Alex Sobel MP - on Friday lunchtime in room SF4. As Alex is our local MP it was a great chance for our students to ask him questions about local issues as well as life in the House of Commons.
PAFRAS Bake Sale
The Social Justice group ran an extremely successful bake sale on Friday to raise funds to support PAFRAS. PAFRAS supports asylum seekers and refugees in Leeds by providing food, toiletries, warm clothing, find translators, counselling and much much more. The Social Justice group baked lemon cake, cookies, chocolate muffins and rice crispy cakes to raise funds to buy urgent supplies for this winter. We are very proud to announce that we have raised £106.25! The Social Justice group will meet next Wednesday 20th November in SF6 at 1:15pm to discuss how best to use these funds. If you would like to get involved in the PAFRAS enrichment, please email Katherine Lowock.
