Running Out of Time is a national relay event in which thousands of runners, walkers, wheelers and cyclists pass a baton on it's huge journey from Ben Nevis down to Big Ben. It is created to call for action on climate change, particularly to cut emissions, restore nature, and support those hardest hit by climate change. A handful of students and Dan Giddy, our library manager, got involved at the closest stage to us here at Notre Dame.
Dan Giddy commented on the event, 'On Thursday 13th June I was joined by students Andreas Herbert and Alistair Duffy to take part in the Leeds segment of the Running Out of Time climate relay. Along with other participants, we started alongside pupils from Armley Park Primary school, walking down to the canal, before the runners took over and carried the baton to the next checkpoint 5km away at the Leeds Climate Innovation District. Well done to out students for taking the time out of their day to get involved!'
Taking part in these events helps us to fulfil our work towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and raises awareness that the climate matters to young people.
