Team ND celebrated another successful sporting year with an awards ceremony in our main hall on Wednesday May 4.
Notre Dame has outstanding performance sports teams in basketball, football, and netball; a range of competitive teams that play in the Association of Colleges Yorkshire and Humber League; and also offers recreational sport for those who want to stay active without competing.
At the end of each sporting season, students who compete for Team ND are invited to attend the Sports Awards, and we’re very happy that this celebration could take place on the college site again this year.
More than 100 of our students attended, from eight of our teams: men's football first and second, women's football, basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis.
Four prizes were awarded for each team: players' player of the year, coaches' player of the year, most improved, and biggest influence. Please see below for a list of this year’s winners.
In addition, Victrix Ludorum and Victor Ludorum trophies were given to Lucy Blackwood and Jack Teahan respectively for being our sportswoman and sportsman of the year.
In-between the presentations, students Kirsten Zoleta and Megan Robson sang beautifully, and a sports quiz kept the audience entertained.
Sports Coordinator Tom Thorpe said, “After two years without a Sports Awards event, it was fantastic to have the Team ND sport community come together to celebrate all our achievements this year. The evening was a success and was very well attended by both staff and students. I'd like to say thank you to everyone involved in setting up the event and a massive well done to all our award winners. We wish our upper sixth leavers the best of luck in their future sporting careers, and look forward to seeing what next year's Team ND can achieve!”
