Sustainability Week 2025

This year, we launched a designated 'Sustainability Week' to raise awareness and encourage action amongst our community in environmental stewardship.

On Tuesday, we celebrated Global Recycling Day and welcomed in Rob Caterall, a Let's Go Zero Climate Action Advisor. Rob came in to collect data for our Climate Action Plan that we have created to help make out campus more sustainable and reduce our environmental impact. In our St Elizabeth building, we have an interactive thermometer display that shows all our planned actions and goals for our sustainability journey.

Staff were encouraged to reduce their carbon footprint, particularly those who travel to work via car, by car sharing, cycling, walking or travelling to work via public transport for the week.

Students from the EcoStewards enrichment group have been working with University of Leeds students, lead by alumni Sheung Ming Chan, on various projects such as planting the college vegetable bed; planning how to inspire young gardeners in primary schools; looking at seasonal recipes and sustainable makeup. There were various crafting groups making bags, pencil cases, paper and art from from recycled materials. Other groups have looked at lost biodiversity and are planning to improve the biodiversity of the college grounds as well as get as many wellbeing plants into classrooms as possible. The projects were showcased at the annual Sustainability Fair in the second half of the week, with student-led interactive stalls.
