On Thursday 13th June, the T Level Health department attended the annual celebration at Weetwood Hall, recognising the hard work that the students have put in throughout the year, culminating to their graduation. The event is joint with Leeds City College and allows students to celebrate with partner representatives and placement providers from the Leeds Health and Care sector.
The new initiative, The Health and Care Academy, guarantees that every T Level student has an extended industry placement, enabling hands on experience from the age of 16 years old, rather than 18 - a major stumbling block for students meaning they could previously only have an observer role. Through this new scheme, every T Level Health student has completed 315 hours of industry placement alongside their academic studies, giving them invaluable experience that will be pivotal for their future careers in the sector.
The event showcased not only the students' achievements, but also the success of the partnership and new 'Health and Care Academy'.
Notre Dame would like to give a huge thank you to our very own Georgia Ferguson, Employer Engagement Lead, who organised the whole event, dressed the room as if a professional had done it, put together all the awards and celebration gifts for each student, with gifts donated from key businesses across the city. It made the event all the more special for the partners and students.
