Chary Gonzalez-Latham, Head of Modern Foreign Languages at Notre Dame, ran two miles every day in February to raise money for Cancer Research.
“I knew it would be a huge challenge for me,” Chary said, “but it was worth it in order to help eradicate this horrible illness, which destroys so many people’s lives. I did it in memory of my father-in-law, who sadly passed last November to this disease, and in support of all friends and family members who are currently fighting against it.”
The Cancer Research website says, “Thousands of runners across the nation are coming together this February to join the fight against cancer. Cancer Research UK is working hard to reach our goal of 3 in 4 people surviving their cancer by 2034 but every step we take towards beating cancer relies on every pound donated. Together we will beat cancer.”
So far £1,785,607.40 has been raised.
We are proud to say that Chary completed her challenge, running 56 miles in spite of heavy rain, snow, and storms Dudley, Eunice, and Franklin. So far, she has raised £180, including cash donations. If you would like to contribute to this cause, please click here.
