Notre Dame’s PE and Sport Department celebrated another year of excellence on May 10.
At the end of each sporting season, students who compete for Team ND are invited to attend the Sports Awards. Around 100 students attended this year from the following teams: men’s basketball, women’s netball, men’s football (first and second teams), women’s football, mixed badminton, men’s table tennis, women’s table tennis, women’s volleyball and men’s volleyball.
Four prizes were awarded for each team: players' player of the year, coaches' player of the year, most improved, and biggest influence. Please see below for a list of this year’s winners.
In addition, Victrix Ludorum and Victor Ludorum trophies were given to Eva Curran and Rhys Cruz respectively for being our sportswoman and sportsman of the year.
In-between the presentations, students Samuel Ngombo and Tarila (Temi) sang beautifully, and a sports quiz kept the audience entertained.
Scott Broadley, Notre Dame’s Head of Physical Education and Sport, said, “Another amazing night celebrating the achievements and commitments of our TEAM ND sports students. The students were immaculately dressed as were the coaches, the music was excellent, and the students deserved a glamourous evening for all their hard work and outstanding conduct through the challenging sports season. Many thanks to all involved.”
