Notre Dame’s A-level Philosophy, Ethics and Religious Studies (PERS) Department is grateful to Fr Chris Benyon from Arundel and Brighton Diocese for giving a talk to students that focused on heaven, hell and purgatory from a Catholic perspective.
On October 3, as part of the A-level’s ND+ programme, students attended a lunchtime workshop and watched the talk on Teams. ND+ sessions provide subject-specific support to enhance our students’ knowledge and enjoyment of the subjects they study. In each of their subjects they enrich their learning through activities such as: speakers from industry and higher education; external visits to industry; specialist subject visits; and participation in many subject-specific enrichment activities.
During his talk, Fr Chris Benyon drew on philosophy, concerning the nature of God, as well as the theology of the afterlife. He spoke about a God of love, describing the Catholic ‘wow’ of heaven, and the nature of hell.
Director of Catholic Life Catherine Herring said, “Fr Chris Benyon’s talk was highly beneficial and engaging for our A-level PERS students.”
